Gavin Reid

Chief Investigator

Professor Reid is the Associate Dean (Infrastructure) in the Faculty of Science and the Professor of Bioanalytical Chemistry at the University of Melbourne, where his research focuses on analytical biochemistry technologies and methods for biomolecular analysis.

Professor Reid has over 35 years of experience in the development and application of mass spectrometry-based strategies for quantitative lipidome and proteome analysis to identify the functional role of lipids and proteins in the onset and progression of disease.

To date, Professor Reid’s interdisciplinary and highly collaborative research has resulted in more than 190 peer-reviewed publications with over 15000 citations, 4 patents and over 210 conference and invited seminar presentations. From 2013-2022 he was an Associate Editor for the Journal of the American Society for Mass Spectrometry and was President of the Australian and New Zealand Society for Mass Spectrometry from 2016-2020. He is currently a member of the Editorial Advisory Boards for the Journal of Lipid Research and the Journal of Proteome Research.
