Dr. Yulia Alexandr is a Lecturer in Applied and Computational Algebra in the School of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Melbourne. Her research lies at the intersection of algebraic geometry, statistics, and machine learning, with a particular focus on using algebraic and geometric methods to understand statistical models and learning systems.
She is broadly interested in applications of algebra across different scientific domains, including the life sciences and phylogenetics. Prior to joining the University of Melbourne, she held postdoctoral positions at UCLA and Harvard and received her PhD in Mathematics from UC Berkeley.
