Elias Batshon
Research Assistant
Elias Batshon is a Research Assistant working in Associate Professor Vijay Rajagopal’s Cell Systems and Mechanobiology Group. He develops scientific software for computational cell biology.
Elias is a final-year Bachelor of Biomedicine student at the University of Melbourne, majoring in Biomedical Engineering Systems. At WEHI’s Centre for Dynamic Imaging, he developed a computer vision pipeline to automatically detect NETosis events in live-cell microscopy, along with an interface that allows biologists to explore and interpret the results.
His research interests lie at the intersection of software, hardware and biology, with a particular focus on developing quantitative tools that are practical and accessible for researchers. Outside of his research, Elias enjoys developing video games and composing music for them.
