Aysha Laila Sezmis
Research Fellow
- aysha.sezmis@monash.edu
Aysha works within Dr. McDonald’s diverse microbial research group in the School of Biological Sciences at Monash University.
Her research specifically focuses on central carbon metabolism in bacteria and yeast. This work contributes to MACSYS’s broader mission of constructing comprehensive whole-cell models across diverse prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms. Aysha’s work leverages the lab’s versatile microbial systems, including model organisms like E. coli, baker’s yeast, and C. albicans, alongside the novel experimental evolution models developed by Mike McDonald. Her research aims to elucidate metabolic pathways that are fundamental to cellular function, providing crucial data for predictive evolutionary modeling within the MACSYS framework.
